I've been working on a project for about a week now in CS5 Premiere Pro. Yesterday I shutdown my computer and now my Lacie external hard drive which contains the project file and all media cache files, is showing up write protected. Premiere will not allow me to connect to the drive. I tried turning off indexing on the drive, but it says I don't have permission. I noticed under the drives properties that all of the folders say READ ONLY. If I try to change it I get the same error. I am the computers administrator, and I've never had this problem before. Any ideas on how I can get the drive to let me write to it and connect it back up with Premiere? Thanks!
Some more Specs.
Using Windows 7 64bit
9 Gigs Ram
1TB Lacie External (where the problem is)
Is this a Firewire connected drive? I've never seen this with a USB connected drive, but have experienced it with Firewire. The solution was to disconnect the drive from the computer and wait a minute, then reconnect it and let the computer find it.
If that doesn't work then let us know. There may be another solution available.
I would think the simplest solution would be to copy the media off the problem drive and onto a new drive and resume editing.
