Mylenium Oct 19, 2010 7:57 AM (in response to TerryLn22)What is a "Document Size"
It's the only size that really matters - the memory consumed by all pixels in the file when it is loaded into memory as decompressed data. You can change that readout by just clicking on it, BTW.

Zeno Bokor Oct 19, 2010 8:00 AM (in response to TerryLn22)Once you open a file in Photoshop it's not tied in to specific file formats anymore. The Document Size section shows you on the left an aproximation of how big the file would be when flattened and saved as a PSD while on the right it shows you how big the image is in memory

In PS CS4, when you hover the mouse over an image, one that I have that is sized as a 5x7 at 200 ppi, it shows 933 kb.

You mean in Windows Explorer window? Photoshop will not show you such information.

.. can I not see the actual file size of 933k anywhere?
No you can not. You may plan to save it as jpg with any amount of compression that will greatly influenced the file size and Photoshop is not that much intelligent yet to guess your plans :-)
