Any way to show them? Would sure be handy & make sub sequencing more useful, like pre-compositions.
This is, having a sequence and put that sequence into another sequence. The audio shows nothing graphical--but if it can do the mix and play it out, it should be able to generate waveforms, right? At least I wish it did.
The alternative is to do a quick mixdown of that 1st sequence's audio and then replace and group it to the video track. Also, nest from selection doesn't seem to include audio. :/
You need to render the audio for the waveform to show.
In addition to what Jim said, there is a specific Render Audio command found in the Sequence menu; this way you don't need to generate unnecessary video previews.
