I would make the title a crawl and add a linear wipe (in the video effects) with a feathered edge to it.
Animate the text manually using position keyframes, then nest and add a linear wipe with feathered edge to the nested clip.
Using the Crawl in the Titler is too difficult to determine
the duration with any precision so I use Motion con
trols with key frames for that. Thats the easy part.
Now to what... do you suggest adding the Linear Wipe effect to?
Nest your animated crawl in a new sequence, then add the Linear Wipe to the nest. Linear Wipe is actually an Effect in the Transitions category, not a Transition, so you can keyframe the transition--or not. You can just park it where you need, change the angle and apply some feathering, if needed. Think of it as an old-school wipe on a mixer/DVE, where you have manual control via the T-bar...
Sorry if I wasn't being clear...
I would then animate the title using the position controls and its keyframes. When happy with the motion I would nest the animated title into a new sequence.
The new sequence would then work as any video clip on your main timeline, add the linear wipe to the resulting clip (the clip that ended up in your sequence when nesting).
I will try your suggestions and I am very familiar with the Linear Wipe. I use it for
graphic line reveals a lot.
I did play with it a bit yesterday along with Track Mattes and Garbage Mattes.
Will have another play now. (not totally convinced I will add)
It was real easy to do in AEFX but I am taken aback by how hard it is to do in PPRO.
I am persevering for my own edification at his point and I do have a few of them to do for this project and upcoming ones.
