i doubt the title is the correct terminology, but it's the
best paraphrase for what i'm trying to do. let's say i have a xml
doc that has a root node, which has children, and each of those
children may or may not have children of their own. in the code
below, "this" is my xml object. what i want to do is to create the
variable "nodes" that says give me a list of all the child nodes of
the root node, without including the child nodes of the child
nodes. basically i want that variable to equal all the nodes one
level, and only one level, below the root node. as it stands right
now, my variable "nodes" includes everything in the xml document.
how do i leave out the grand kids?
i am using AS2. that code actually gives me all the
childNodes of the firstChild of the root node. i want the same kind
of list, but for one level up. for example, in your code if i were
to change "this.firstChild.firstChild" to "this.firstChild" it
would give me a list of all the childNodes and it would include any
sub child nodes they may have. i don't want the list of sub child
nodes included in my variable. is that possible?
