How do I get the menu override option to work?

I created a DVD with a First Play Menu (Motion background and 4 text buttons which link to the 4 items on the Submenu), A Submenu (Static background with 4 animated video buttons), and 4 Chapter Menus (motion background and animated video buttons).  I am trying to have the Submenu link to the Chapter Menus using the override function but it is not working:

      Conceptually:

Think of it as 4 football games with 4 quarters each.  The First play menu allows me to choose which of the 4 games to go to, the Submenu has animated video buttons linked to the start of each of the 4 games.  What I want to be able to do is when I click on game 1 from the Submenu, it will bring me to a Chapter menu applicable to that game only.  On the chapter menu I can choose between the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter.  These are animated video buttons with a motion background for action from that particular game.  In the Submenu since the video buttons link to a particular chapter, if I click on that button it starts playing from the appropriate start of the game it is linked to rather than bringing me to the Chapter menu.  I tried to use the override and then specify to bring me to the Chapter menu but this doesn't work, it still goes directly to the start of the game.  If instead of having video buttons in the Submenu I have text buttons than I just specify the link and there is no issue.  The only way I can get to the chapter menu is by creating a text button on the First Play menu linking to it or creating a text button on the Submenu linking to it.  How can I have video buttons and links that go to places other than the link shown in the video?
