You have to float it over the canvas.
thanks, but the image is a child of the canvas...so I can not make the image over the canvas

You would have to remove it and re-parent it (or float a copy of it).
Float a copy would do the trick, but in my case its an extended image with alot of functions and dynamic status on it, copy the image might be a huge work.
By re-parent do you mean remove the image from canvas after mask is set and reinsert the image into canvas? I'm not sure if it would work as when every I insert a image into a canvas with mask, the image is always under the mask and become transparent.
(by unmaskable I mean not affected by mask visually)

If you want to float a copy, consider whether your copy has to a full clone
of your extended Image or just a temporary copy.
