According to the Flex home page, Flash Builder is recommended but not required to build Flex applications ("While Flex applications can be built using only the free Flex SDK, Adobe Flash Builder™ (formerly Adobe Flex® Builder™) software can accelerate development...").
Can someone kindly tell me how to do this as I cannot find instructions online anywhere. I've downloaded the SDK and the vanilla Eclipse IDE. How do I start building Flex apps? Is it even worth trying without Flash Builder? At this point I just want to experiment with Flex for a while before and build some test apps for Facebook before I commit to Flex.
Thanks in advance,
Use the command line compilers: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf69084-7f14.html
If you just want to experiment with Flex, you can download the trial version of Flash Builder without commitment.

Hi,you can try Flash Builder trial, but also there is Flash Develop,it's a free tool and it has great code completition, debugger, mostly anything that comes with any IDE.It's only downside is that it has no visual editor, but most experienced developers work only in code view,so it's not a big deal.
I'm going to try the 60-day trial and see how it goes.
Thanks for the replies!
