I see references to this all over. but no specifics on
how to write a text file from Flash CS5. Could someone
show me how? I am collecting responses during a assessment lesson and I want to write the collected responses to a text file on a local and/or a server.
Do I need AIR?
you can use air or, if this is a web app, you'll need to use some server-side scripting.
you can use google to search for a tutorial but you should specifiy whether this is an air app or not and if not air, which server-side language your will use (php is the most common to use) and which actionscript version.
I looked into writing text files recently as well and found this site very helpful: http://www.tizag.com/
I was using ActionScript 2 in Flash CS3, and used server-hosted php to do the actual reading and writing. I know nothing about AIR, and didn't know anything about php before I started. But as kglad said, there are many ways of doing it, and maybe AIR would be better.
