    embed problems

    isotope18

      Hey all,

      Novice here, but trying my best!

      The following gets my vid going (visual and sound) but the movie slider does not work, and the audio slider doesn't work. Both sliders show up, but theres no "button" on the movie slider to actuate, and turning down or muting the sound (both actions can be made) have no effect on the sound.

      So, I've got something buggy, but I haven't been able to track it down. Here's the current embed code:

      <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="704" height="480" id="player1" name="<param name="movie" value="/vids/player.swf">
      <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true">
      <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always">
      <param name="flashvars" value="file=/vids/juggling1.swf&autostart=false">
      <embed
      type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
      id="player1"
      name="player1"
      src="/vids/player.swf"
      width="704"
      height="480"
      allowscriptaccess="always"
      allowfullscreen="true"
      flashvars="file=/vids/juggling1.swf&autostart=false"
      />
      </object>

      Thanks in advance!!!

            Sure, sorry about that...

            Now, I'm just testing videos out, so I have kind of "hidden" the link a little bit.

            Go to http://www.santos-fc.com/

            and scroll down just a bit to the section named

            A Shout Out To Our Great Santos Volunteers !!

            and there you'll see a Vids test link to the page.

            This is a clunky way to do it, but I didn't want it out there totally till debugged.

            Hope this works!

            thanks!

              use an flvplayback component to play your video.

                So is the format I have incorrect for the JW player.sfw? I thought they were compatible, and the JW one of the best out there.

                What player would you recommend?

                thanks!

                  Thanks kglad,

                  I've done this now in AF CS3 pro.

                  Can you give me a clue as to the embed code I would use?

                  thanks again

                    why are you using the JW player?  whatever problems you have are caused by the JW player or because you're not using it correctly.  if you must use the JW player you'll need to find someone that can help you with that player.

                    if you use the flash player or make one yourself, you can get much more help.   the flash player is in your components panel.  there are a variety of skins with a variety of controls that can be used with that player and they are all easier to use than the JW player.

                    and the code you use to embed your swf should be published by flash.  use that code.  it always works.

                      thanks kglad,

                      I'm on board with the flashplayer now. You can check out my first try at the link I sent before...its working great!

                      2 questions though:

                      If I want to re-skin, should I recreate the .fla with the new skin, or can I hand-code it into the html, and just send the skin over.

                      And, for a second video, is a second .fla required? That is, a different .fla for each succesive video?

                      thanks for your guidance!

                        to skin the flv component you should use google to search for a tutorial.  it's not fast and easy.

                        and you need to be compulsive.  my experience with skinning is if you're "off" by a pixel here or there, you end up with significant problems.

                          Thanks again kglad. Much appreciated.

                          How do I "insert" an image as the first image, since I don't want to autostart, but I don't want a black screen either. Where do I attach a .jpg?

                          thanks so much...there is a lot to learn here!

                            if you want to use an image from the video click on your on-stage component and then click on preview in the parameters panel.  a dialogue will open with instructions for saving a bitmap from the video.
