The project file contains links to all of your media files. Apparently you moved the project file but not all of the accompanying media files -- which is why the program can't find them.
Rather than moving the project file, go to the program's File menu and open the Project Archiver. The Project Archiver will move project file as well as all of the necessary linked media files to your designated location, external drive or (if the files are small enough) optical disc.
Thanks! I'll give that a shot.
That file then will be the one that i open on the new cpu?
I'll need to use the portable hdd, the project files amount to several gbs.
Yes. Once you archive the project files to a new location, you should be able to just open the .prel file and all of the media will be there.
I pulled up the file after transferring and it came up like it used to, with the exception of the video files still showing up as "media offline".
There also appears to be a heavy amount of background rendering going on. Will that fix my problem?
The files now come up after all were rendered. but the program is now showing the files as not rendered and has begun rendering again!
Let it finish and then see? or do i need to change some settings?
Something is wrong. If you've archived your project, your project file should open up with all of the media files connected. (They may not be in the Media panel,
but they will be in the Project panel, where it counts.)
It's possible you'll need to re-render your project though.
Yep. It rendered, re-rendered and now works a-ok.
Thanks for clearing up my problem!
Glad I could help, double-G!
