Update for Adobe Reader appears at bottom of screen?

Every time I turn this Toshiba laptop on, an icon saying its an Update for Adobe Reader appears on the right side of the screen in the lowest window on my desktop.  I have the latest Adobe Reader already installed, but the notification icon still appears even though the product has already been updated.  Is there a way to remove this icon and associated path?  I'm worried it might be a virus, and I don't want to inadvertantly install it in case it is.  Please help!
