Just bought and downloaded Premiere Elements 9. Just playing around with a couple of titles, a short video clip and one photo. Premiere Elements must have stopped working at least four different times. Is this normal? I have a brand new HP laptop with all the necessary processors, memory and disk space. This seems odd.
Also, every time I go back and re-open, I get that annoying dashboard with the choice of organizing, new project or open project. Can I turn that off? I'd rather just go to the normal opening screen.
Does your laptop have TWO 7200rpm hard drives?
Does it have at least ONE 7200rpm hard drive?

- you need AT LEAST 2 drives for video editing, 3 is better
- some HD formats work better with (require) RAID
Along with John T's questions on the I/O sub-system (your HDD's), can you also provide the full specs. of your HP laptop? This ARTICLE will give you tips on the types of info that would be so very useful to help.
Also, this ARTICLE might offer tips on setting up one's computer for video editing, about the most intense process, that one is likely to subject their computer to. If you have Win7, be sure to see Black Viper's Win7 tuneup tips, linked in that article.
