The same happens to me with Adobe reader 9.4.1 on Windows XP.
Tried to extract a single page (Primo PDF), the problem remain: the document is readable on the screen, not on the Printing Preview or on the paper.
Only way out for now, printing with Microsoft XPS Document Writer and then printing from that format.
Very annoying: shoul we reinstall old versions of Adobe Reader?

For both of you, open the PDF with a problem and go to File>Properties>Fonts.
Does it say "embedded" or "Embedded Subset" next to any of the font names?
Yes, it says "sottoinsieme incorporato" (embedded) for all the fonts.
I've since discovered the solution and am posting in case any others have the same problem. Some key fonts were somehow been uninstalled from my computer. After finding them and installing them, the PDF documents printed normal again. It still seems a bit strange that the fonts show up on the computer screen, but not in printing. Regardless, it's been solved. Thanks for your help.

Your issue could be because you used a third party application to modify the PDF (cutePDF). Is there a way for you to post a sample PDF for us to look at?
