    Bug in export module

    klsteven-YekPUg Community Member

The export module does not remember the jpg compression settings that I  enter in the picture options. If I set the compression to best quality  (12) the value gets set back to another value (8 or 10 etc) the next  time I open my settings or export some pics. This happens each and every  time!

This may be a max picture size issue.  If on the web to view on a screen only low quality images are needed.  The file size goes up a lot at the higher compression valules, but you may be fooling yourself on quality.

Take an image and save at various compression levels and then enlarge a portion to 500% and see if you can see where the tip point is between better quality and file size.  Depending on image data some images will compress more than other so try a couple of dirrerent types.

            Curt,
I don`t need jpgs for the Web. Sometimes it`s a simple way to send files to somebody with an acceptable file size. In this case I want the best quality Without having to send a tif. JPEG 2000 lossless would also be an alternative, but most people can`t open it. Anyway, this bug is annoying.
