Deinterlace 1080i60 for resizing before making DVD?

      Hi there,

I've been working with AVCHD footage for a few projects now but am still learning about how HD works.  I have a timeline which has 1080 60i (the timeline is 29.97) which I need to convert for SD DVD.  On other projects I have let AME do the work for me and the presets (using Maximum Render Quality) were usually acceptable.  However this project has some slow motion effects which are causing very noticable flicker/lines around the movement.  I don't notice it much at 100% speed.

I have read that I should:

      1. deinterlace to a 1 intermediate file.

      2. resize

      3. reinterlace

      4. compress to Mpeg2 for DVD

Can anyone give me some ideas of where to start?  I know I can use avisynth or virtualdub but in the past I could use a frameserver to get the footage to those programs.  with cs5's 64bit requirement I can no longer use debugmode's frameserver.

      Thank you for any direction!
