Are we to assume CS5? Macintosh or Winderz?
To what codec are you rendering?
Anecdotal testimony but sometimes the Animation codec, or others that support alpha, will display information in the alpha iamge and yet it's not really there.

As David already said, we need a lot more info about your platform, what version of AE and what exactly your render settings are. Could be a million things from cached frames to fragmented OpenGL buffers to true CoDec problems...
As the others have said, we need more information.
Also, be sure to apply the most recent updates for your version of After Effects. If you're using After Effects CS5, install the After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update. That update fixes a lot of problems.
Be sure that you're using the most recent version of the driver for your video card, too.
THank you guys for helping I'm on win7 x 64 and it is cs5. I have tried to purge all, and cleared my disk cache and even renamed the project that was dropping itself into other renders (and deleted the original project). Somehow renders are still finding it and dropping its frames in.
Please, answer the questions that we have asked, especially the ones about updates, OpenGL, import formats/codecs, and output formats/codecs.
I did update about two weeks ago but i'm doing an update now. I'll get back with more information when it completes. Thank you so much for your help!!
...but you STILL haven't answered the guys' questions about codecs, machine specs and more!
Do you think they ask these questions for their health or something? No! They're asking because they know it's important information to make the proper diagnosis.
Now, if you don't WANT your problem solved, just keep it up -- don't answer their questions. And you won't get any good answers.
Hi Dave, I said in my last post that I would be back to give the information in my next post, I was gathering the data and waiting for the adobe update and driver updates to complete.
Ok thanks for your help and patience. I finished the update for adobe and my drivers with no luck. Here are the details for the rest:
Win7 x64 CS5
I have tried renders with OpenGl enabled and disabled with no luck
I have purged all, cleared cache from dis, still no luck ( I disabled disk cache in preferences too)
I tried a control/alt/shift during launch to reset AE settings with no luck
I checked on output module and under codec it says "none". I tried renders using DV(24pAdvanced) and DV NTSC but they both rendered out720x480 and I need to keep it 1920x1080.
If I missed anything I apologize and please let me know.
Hi, I have a new discovery that would perhaps help solve this? I tried rendering as .tif sequence and as .mov and the flicker disappears, so it is just the flawless .avi that is the problem. What could be causing that to act up?
