I'm not understanding your question, perhaps you could rephrase it.
OK, I try to explain it: I just want to edit a css style on some website. But I want a download only a css style (not all website). Then I do some changes in css file and then I wont to see how does it look. So I want to see a website, but use a css style which I have on my local hdd. How to do it?
I think I understand, there is an existing web site that you want to edit the css, and you need to get the css to edit it, correct? But you are having a hard time getting the external css file.
View the web page in Firefox, and if you do not have it already, get "Web DeveloperTools" toolbar. What it does it will make your css file a link for you to open and view.
But I am still confused, why cant you get the css file through DW if you have access to the server?
PS, if you post a link that might be of help.
I'm afraid you don't understand me well. I have no ftp access to server. It is easy to download a css file. Then I do some change in that file and I want to see different on server. So I just wont to see a website, but with css style on my local hdd. It is possible on dreamweaver from CS5 I think. For example I want to se file www.domain.com/index.html with css on C:\document\style.css working together. It is posible I think in dreamweaver without downloading index.html !
I'm sorry I was not understanding you. so you want to DL the files, the see what your changes will look like on a different server. Two options:
1.Put it up on a server you do have access to.
2. Put a testing server on your machine and view it locally.
For a testing server, visit
I hope I understood you this time.
I'm afraind no. I dont need a testing server. There is only one index file (on server) and one style.css file on my local hdd. In DW is possible to set to see a index from server (for example www.domain.com/index.html) and for this index.html use style.css from local hdd. Just to see work them together in DW.

No. DW needs both files (index.html and style.css) to be on your hard drive, in your Local Site folder.
It doesn't. From DW CS5 it is possible! I have seen it, but I don't remember how to do it...:-(
It's the same thing I need. The easy solution is use CSSEDIT, free mac software. You will do it in a glance and it's funny.
BUT I really would like to use DW to do it.
I will do an example:
I have hundreds of sites: a lot of FTP accounts. (By the way, is it possible make a massive account import in DW? I can't find it).
I have no site inside DW. No one. I always work with dynamic site (PHP with TPL file for the templates, not standard HTML file).
I need just to modify a simple thing in CSS, testing in LIVE view inside DW. Because before publish it, I want to test my little and quick edit with live view.
But I can't because DW say: "to open file --- because it could not be found on your local disk". It's frustrating. I have FTP account, but I don't want use it, because I don't want to download all file connected with date page in my local disk. It's just a stupid edit of a single CSS file, why I have to manage a site inside DW?
My question is: It's possible to download only my CSS file (ok, with FTP service inside DW) and edit it using live view? I tried but I can't. I don't understand: I have to download my entire site (PHP, JS, CSS, TPL) to do it? I have no HTML file.
Why don't you create a simple override procedure like in CSSEDIT? With this software you can download only the CSS file you need (without FTP), override this file locally, do your edit, make your tests, learn, and then when you are ok, you can save the file in your server (if you need). It's simple and easy. No need to download other files or set an FTP account.
Sometime a webmaster need just a little edit to a CSS file. Quick and easy. Maybe I need to insert all my hundreds FTP accounts to menage all my sites in DW?
Thanks a lot for your help.
I don't know of any way to do this in DW. You could install the Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox and accomplish this, but it sounds like you can already do this with CSSEDIT.
Unfortunately CSSEDIT has no CSS3 support. Now they develop ESPRESSO, but is not good as CSSEDIT was, and there isn't a complete CSS3 support.
I saw a video with live view of a Wordpress site inside DW, but I don't understand how it works.
Is it possible use LIVE VIEW (edit css locally and see the results) with a dynamic site? With Wordpress, for example? I need to download all Wordpress folder or only the theme folder?
I can't edit locally my CSS because DW say “not be found on your local disk”.
The other question was: Is it possible make a massive FTP account import in DW?
