1. Re: Unable to change from JPEG to PSD and save to iPhoto
Barbara B. Nov 28, 2010 3:55 PM (in response to EarthMoonStars)If you want to use the version capability in iphoto (one edited version+original), you can't change the name or the format of the file. You may also need to go into the PSE save preferences and set On First Save to save over the existing file.
If you don't want to do that, you just save the file in PSE wherever you like, then use FIle>Import in iphoto to bring it back in as a new image.

EarthMoonStars Nov 28, 2010 4:31 PM (in response to Barbara B.)Hi Barbara,
I had set save to On First Save.
Are you saying that it is not possible to take a JPEG photo from
iPhoto, edit in Elements (after changing it to a PSD file), then
change it back to JPEG and send it back to iPhoto?
I did try File > Import but was not able to find the PSD version listed.
Thanks, KIK

3. Re: Unable to change from JPEG to PSD and save to iPhoto
Barbara B. Nov 28, 2010 4:36 PM (in response to EarthMoonStars)No, iPhoto can't understand that it's still the same file if you change the format, because to all intents and purposes it's not really the same file anymore. If you want it to automatically go back into iphoto as a version, you have to pretend you're just saving, not Saving As, at any stage of the process.

4. Re: Unable to change from JPEG to PSD and save to iPhoto
Barbara B. Nov 28, 2010 4:36 PM (in response to Barbara B.)Also, iPhoto is friendlier to TIFF than to PSD, so you might try using that instead for new imports.

EarthMoonStars Nov 30, 2010 4:59 PM (in response to Barbara B.)Barbara,
Thank you very much for your help. I just took a short glimpse at the
tutorial, but haven't gone in depth yet. I'll reply when I've had a
chance to spend time with it.
Thanks,
KIK
