If you get the same error again, please repair it once. You can repair it by going to
Help -> Repair Adobe Reader Installation.

Do you have any of the following?
1. Romaing profile setup
2. Symentac Endpoint Protection or any other antivirus
3. Folder redirection using junction or any any other way.
4. Do you have nay Compatibility mode set for Reader (right click on Reader icon and check Compatibility tab)
If you have none of these then do you think your system has anything which could be invsetigated for this problem. You could also try disbaling reader protected mode in preferences using your adminstrator a/c and then try to launch

Microsoft Security Essentials. There is no folder redirection.
This is a new computer with Windows 7 OEM installed. From the start, I have
had to disable the reader protection mode to run any program without
clicking "run as administrator".
I just reinstalled Adobe Reader X and found that I can make it run by
setting it to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. This is hardly a
fix, but allows the program to run. I tried a repair, but nothing changed.
There is obviously something in my Windows 7 installation, but I cannot find
what it might be. I'm going to contact Dell Support and Microsoft support.
