fmeuser Dec 13, 2010 1:15 AM (in response to CarphuntinGod)What is your input content?
Do you see hiccups in the local file also?

3. Re: FMLE 3.1 skips / hiccups in live audio stream
CarphuntinGod Dec 15, 2010 12:19 PM (in response to fmeuser)input is an anolog line into the encoding box.
if music is played through the enocoding box's speakers, there is no hiccuping etc.
task manager/process viewer shows very little activity. nothing is taxing the system.
no video input is turned on for this audio only stream

fmeuser Dec 15, 2010 7:41 PM (in response to CarphuntinGod)Do you see hiccups in the local file also?
If music plays fine then what content doesn't play fine?

5. Re: FMLE 3.1 skips / hiccups in live audio stream
CarphuntinGod Dec 15, 2010 8:56 PM (in response to fmeuser)we are not saving the stream, only live encoding. When I say it doesn't hiccup at the local machine... I mean if we turn the speakers on, there is no hiccuping. So, we believe the hiccups are incurred by the encoder, in the net transmission to the server, at the server.

fmeuser Dec 15, 2010 9:01 PM (in response to CarphuntinGod)Could you please make a local file to rule out the encoder?

8. Re: FMLE 3.1 skips / hiccups in live audio stream
CarphuntinGod Dec 16, 2010 8:00 AM (in response to CarphuntinGod)The saved flv file appears to have no skips, and sounds much cleaner than what we get through the stream.
So... skipping net connection between encoder and server for the moment, are there optimum audio settings for the live streams application / vhost on the server?
Our server is Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5.3 r824a.

fmeuser Dec 16, 2010 8:13 AM (in response to CarphuntinGod)What is the buffer value you have set in the flash player subscriber?
A value of 2 sec is a safe bet.

10. Re: FMLE 3.1 skips / hiccups in live audio stream
CarphuntinGod Dec 16, 2010 9:04 AM (in response to fmeuser)I'm not the one who wrote our player... is that value a setting in the player, or is it a setting in the server.
My basic search implies there is probably at least one setting in the server regarding buffering.
