1. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
Stan Jones Dec 10, 2010 9:30 AM (in response to mputtr)No idea; have not seen that before.
I always evaluate how much longer it will take me to actually start from scratch. Encore sometimes has a problem that is simplist to solve by starting over.
Since this is an unusally error, if starting over won't take a super long time, I'd go there.
Generally my menus have not been the problem, so I pull them from the old project's folders as a first go.
Perhaps someone has seen this error and knows what it means....

2. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
mputtr Dec 10, 2010 12:09 PM (in response to Stan Jones)I did forget to mention that When I try to run a preview of the menu, the same error appears. I'm wondering if this is because I exported the chapter and main menu background movies in .h264.
Previously I rendered it with the Avid DNxHD 115. Would that be the problem by chance? I can import the older version (same exact file, just different codec)

3. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
mputtr Dec 10, 2010 10:26 PM (in response to mputtr)I think i found out what happened. I guess I should not import a DVD resolution menu for a bluray project and try to go back and burn a dvd project. the menu pretty much got corrupted. when i created a new project and planned to import the menu over, i found out that the menu somehow deleted itself.

4. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
ram8kumar Dec 10, 2010 10:58 PM (in response to mputtr)Well, I think there is some asset in your project that is in use in some kind of navigation but it has been deleted in some way.
There might be the case that the asset is offline. I also faced the same problem and found out that one of the asset was offline in the project and when I deleted the asset, all went well.
Thanks,
Ramesh.

5. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
ram8kumar Dec 10, 2010 11:01 PM (in response to mputtr)I would also like to add that the error message string is cut off in En on one of the platforms win or mac. (Well this is a bug....) I thnk it is complete on mac. I may be wrong. That complete string will tell you the name of the asset that was not found.

6. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
mputtr Dec 10, 2010 11:02 PM (in response to ram8kumar)Heya, I took a look at every asset I have and none of them had the offline message at all. When I deleted the menu, it seemed to work again. I think my menu template got corrupted so bad that it deleted itself in the end.

ram8kumar Dec 11, 2010 2:17 AM (in response to mputtr)Could you please tell me what you did to your menu ?
Actually I told you the situation that I faced sometime ago. You may be right that menu template might get corrupt.

8. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
mputtr Dec 11, 2010 2:28 AM (in response to ram8kumar)It was actually a series of unfortunate technical/compatibility issue.
I authored the DVD in Encore CS5 and burned a master copy. Our school requires us to do a digital delivery of the film in a .mov and a Bluray disk for the professor. I tried to open my CS5 file at school which still uses CS4.
So when I plug my external hdd in, I got a slew of errors. First it's the "no disk" error, then Encore will throw up a rendering error and shut down and finally, it simply just refuse to even transcode.
I took my external back home and created a separate Encore project but this time with the Bluray as the default template. After rebuilding the menu from the .psd files that I imported from my DVD project folder, and going back to my dvd project. that's when the error happened.
A few restarts later, the menus simply decide to disappear.

9. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
Stan Jones Dec 11, 2010 4:38 AM (in response to mputtr)Well, I'll bet that's a workflow that you don't plan to use again! I'm glad you got it sorted.
When you refer to a corrupt template, keep in mind that nothing happens to the template: Encore immediately makes a copy (that resides in the source/menu folder), and that is the one that is used/edited in photoshop/etc. But there are other menu functions (button routing, etc) that live in mystery places and don't appear accessible to maniuplation.

Glad to know that you have sorted that out.
Thanks,

11. Re: " was not found" error in Encore CS 5
mputtr Dec 11, 2010 12:02 PM (in response to Stan Jones)yeah, originally, i just made a new menu, then edited in photoshop and when i was done i just left it where it is. I never thought about making a template, so in the end, i pretty much should've made a back up.
It was an annoying error, but well.... that's life.
