1. Re: Can I export text boxes in InDesign to a word processor
macinbytes Dec 10, 2010 12:35 PM (in response to batikdruid)If you are on CS5 InDesign you can play around with its Buzzword integration. It's not amazingly robust but may get the job done.
File > Export for Buzzword
Put cursor in the story for what you want exported.

P Spier Dec 10, 2010 12:42 PM (in response to batikdruid)Any text can be exported to plain text or RTF. There's even a sample script for doing ALL stories. but be warned, that's exactly what it does and it isn't particularly easy to work with a zillion text files with names that don't mean much.
You might want to pop over to Rorohiko.com and take a look at their text exporter script.

3. Re: Can I export text boxes in InDesign to a word processor
batikdruid Dec 10, 2010 1:40 PM (in response to P Spier)Thanks, I'll check that out. I did try something where it was going to export the 'stories' but I think what I got was all of the formatting markup too, it was useless to me, though I'm not positive how I got that. LIke I said, I tried every export option.
I am using CS4 -- and its funny you should mention Buzzword, macinbytes, I just saw that while googling about Bridge as a possibility. Though we'll be upgrading to CS5 early next year (budgets and year-ends, you know! : ), I need to figure out some option and how this procedure is going to work as soon as I can.
Keep the ideas coming! Someone has to know how to do this and done it!? : )

P Spier Dec 10, 2010 1:44 PM (in response to batikdruid)Sounds like you exported to "tagged text," another option.
