I did some more research, and it looks like I am dealing with this type of situation.
Whenever I open the project up, a file window pops up with the following question "Where is the File (File name)?"
I have gone to the project area and replaced the footage but how do I relink the footage to the time line?
Here's another link.
It appears this is what I am dealing with but I have no idea how to restore these files without starting all over again.
Copying your project files to their original folder is the quickest fix. But if you cannot remember where that was create a new folder and put them there. Now in PRE, when asked where a file is, point it at your new folder. It will now look for all other missing files there as well.

Thank you for the response. Please correct me if I am doing this wrong. I go to my back up project files and open them up but I still get the same problem. I have no idea where to locate the original media other than the raw footage.
Am I looking for the scratch disks?
Right now I am just clicking on the clips in time line and locating the raw footage that it is linked to for now. It is quite tedious. If anyone knwos a better way please let me know.
As Neale says, the only way to avoid this would be to place your restored files in exactly the same directory structure as they were originally.
On the other hand, you shouldn't have to do each individual file. Usually, when you first open a project, the program will ask you to re-connect a lost link to a media file. When you do, the program will automatically link to any other files it recognizes in this folder.
Here's the thing. I was having problems with my computer so I did an dell data emergency back up. I transferred the files onto my computer, Still no go.I am going to transfer the files again.
I solved my problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 9,., I removed it and downloaded the trial version ,, Corel Video Studio Pro x3,,works better than any Abode Elements, works perfectly, Try it,, worked so well I even bought it,,,,How do I get out of these forums?
take care, Judy
I think I know what the problem is. When I first transferred the files there were some issues so I transferred them as a folder on my desktop. I think that was the issue. So I am going to transfer the original files again into their original folders. Wish me luck.
Thank you everyone for your help.
I figured out a solution. It will be more work, but the most important thing is that I learned something.
