Audition 3.01, final solution for the "could not find supported audio device" in Windows 7 64bit ?

      Hello

Wow, that was a hard thing after all that googling around and checking through all the adobe forum mails to find no real solution for my

"Adobe Audition could not find supported audio device" in my Windows 7 64bit, Intel i7, 930, 2.80GHz with 8MB RAM and Realtek ALC889

      with driver 2.55 from Realtek.

I saw a little help in an adobe blog somewhere, where someone posted some hints with deleting a folder and renaming and deleting some

folders in the registry but to to this always in advance, before starting the Audition software, was not really satisfying for me.

This evening I played around with different settings when right clicking on the Audition-Icon on my desktop and started with enabling or

disabling the different boxes in "properties" -> "compatibilities" tab when I found out I have to remove (disable) the "Run as administator" box

and I also have to enable the "Execute for compatibility" mode for "Windows95/WindowsME"!!! And I used also "Change settings for all users"

      by the way.

Sorry I am a swiss so I had to translate some expressions to english, because all is written in german in my OS. Hope you can follow anyway :-)

Since I made those settings Audition 3.01 is finally starting up and running so far like it should.

Sill wondering why Adobe programmers could'nt do it better. So I very hope to help a lot users with this hint.

      Wish you good auditions!

          function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Audition 3 was developed for Windows XP 32 bit. Windows has changed a lot since XP to become Win 7 64 bit so it is not so easily compatible.

I have to say that all this surprises me, as I have run Audition on 2 machines under Windows 7, 64-bit one with Realtek audio and the other with another make of on-board sound. My current Win7 64-bit laptop has Audition 3.01 and it is in use every day with the Realtek and with various usb audio devices.

There are some issues with the usb devices, but if the Realtek audio is correctly set up within Windows before Audition is opened, I have never had a problem. I certainly have never had to run in Windows 95 emulation mode. You do have to make sure that everything is plugged in before starting because of the jack-sensing feature of Windows 7.

              Hello ryclark

              Let me answer like this:

"...or Windows 7 (certified support for 32-bit editions and 64-bit compatible)"

-> written in Adobe's system requirements for Audition 3!!!

They should do this in a better way for such a declaration! Sorry, but I still have to stand behind my opinion.

Kind regards, Chris (what's your name by the way?)

                Hello Wild_Duck

That's funny, indeed! But I have heard about some lucky guys running AA3 with

                Win7 flawlessly ;-)

Anyway, I saw some people "jumping around" in the forum like wild when trying to

run AA3 with Vista or Win7 and so I hope for those my solution will finally help them, too.

As a serious radio amateur I was running a lot of spectrum and weak signal software

like WinRad, SpectrumLab or WSJT on my Win7 system since half a year with not

an only problem so far (and some programs have not been certified for Win7 at the

                beginning)

The "What you hear" function (now called "Stereo Mix") is working fine as well here

in Audition, but why it's exactly this Windows98/ME compatibility combination which

is solving my problem now...I don't know...perhaps only god knows... ;-)))

                Regards, Chris
