If it's not working, don't use the AIR Help client. I don't. Just use the HTML version of Help on the Web, or the PDF version.
See this page for links:
I find that advice somewhat ironic as the new Help system provides exactly what was missing from the CS4 Help system - local files accessible from within the app. It is much better than either of your suggestions.
Unfortunately, I myself don't have any info on recovering the improved (and superior) Help system.
To each their own. I prefer the reliability of the PDF to the brokenness of the AIR application, and I prefer to read the document in my browser (where I have all of my browser extensions and bookmarks and such) when I have an Internet connection.
That's awesome!!!! Thanks, this puts me back in the game!!!

Has worked beautifully for me so far. (Fingers crossed.)

I prefer the speed and responsiveness of a local file (however they're accessed), rather than depending on Adobe servers, which have given me far more trouble than the AIR Help system.
What amuses me most, though, is that we both got exactly what we wanted with the new AIR system. I got the local files, and you get them regularly updated as the Help documents improve. But you still don't like it?! I just find that very odd.
Yeah I checked that out, but there didn't appear to be any answers there either. The PDF/HTML versions are good enough for me though!
