1. Re: All of a sudden I can no longer print
P Spier Dec 14, 2010 2:56 PM (in response to goody38)Can't print from any file in ID?
First things to try are Replace Your Preferences and reinstall the printer.

2. Re: All of a sudden I can no longer print
goody38 Dec 14, 2010 4:05 PM (in response to P Spier)Peter, I replaced my preferences and reinstalled my printer as you suggested. It didn't seem to make any difference.
While I was waiting for someone to suggest something, I did try a few things. It's very strange.
1) When I open the PRINT dialogue box - if I don't enter the either Page Setup or Printer at the bottom, I CAN PRINT.
but when I do (to be sure I've set up everything OK), printing goes into error.
I'm running on a MacMini & HP OfficeJet Pro L7680.

P Spier Dec 14, 2010 4:18 PM (in response to goody38)Is the page size in the dialog set to Defined By Driver?

goody38 Dec 14, 2010 5:05 PM (in response to P Spier)Yes, the paper size is Define by Driver.
This problem seems to coincide with the latest update...7.0.3

8. Re: All of a sudden I can no longer print
goody38 Dec 14, 2010 5:37 PM (in response to P Spier)I'm not sure if I can get into the Driver Setup.
And I don't know how to make invisible files show....
When I said I re-created the ID preferences....all I could find was the ID Defaults file, but NOT the SavedDate File (This came from a recommendation
I got fm Adobe regarding this issue in CS2&CS3...) I assume this file is invisible.
Once I open a file, I go to check my printing specs in Page Setup & Printer on the Print page. Of course, when I return then I am unable to print.
So I close the file & save. Then I reopen the file and Print, which it then does.
I did go to the 526990 thread & reviewed the same problems in the past. My Goodness.

9. Re: All of a sudden I can no longer print
P Spier Dec 14, 2010 5:45 PM (in response to goody38)Did you go to the link in my first response? It tells you how to correctly replace your preferences, both using the keyboard shortcuts and manually by replacing files, and the file locations are there, too.
Not sure how to make hidden files visible on the Mac, though...
So you can print as long as you don't enter the driver (that's what you are doing when you check the setup). I'm not quite sure what that means, and if really replacing the prefs doesn't work, I'm afraid we're going to need to wait for someone more familiar with Mac printing issues.

10. Re: All of a sudden I can no longer print
goody38 Dec 15, 2010 11:00 AM (in response to P Spier)Well, I have found a "round-about" solution to my printing problem. I do all my setups and then save as a Printing Preset. Not being able to print after first doing my setups previously, I now can open my document and select the Printing Preset and it prints JUST FINE.
