I'm using a CANON 5D MARK2 and the installed Adobe Camera Raw 5.0 cannot read my RAW files so I need to install Adobe Camera Raw 5.2 which I have to do manual...
First off, you should be downloading and installing Camera Raw 5.7 which is the final version of Camera Raw for CS4. Second, why are you stating you are forced to manually install Camera Raw? Last point, you are messing with "camera profiles" in your message which has ZERO to do with the Camera Raw plug-in itself...the profiles are for the DNG profiles in the Camera Calibrate tab which if you don't have Camera Raw installed is moot.
To download the 5.7 version go HERE. There are instructions for manually installing both the profiles and the Camera Raw plug-in.
thanks for your answer, camera raw 5.7 is useless because its not compatible with the CANON 5D MARK2 I had it before installed and it didn't work so I did uninstall the CS4 again to remove it...I just described the steps so people are able to help me because I have no clue what I did wrong there has to be something else wrong....I think I did something wrong during the manual installation? for someone having not really alot of computer knowledge even the easiest steps can be very difficult.

Again, Camera Raw 5.7 is the most recent (and final version of Camera Raw for CS4) and is compatible with the 5D MII. This is the one you want to download and install. If ACR 5.7 isn't working for you (and your camera) that means you don't have it properly installed.
And, again, download and follow the instructions to the letter...if after properly installing (as per the instructions) you still can't access the image via Bridge CS4, you may need to purge the cache for the folder in question. That is done by selecting the folder in Bridge CS4 and selecting the command Purge Cache for folder XXX under Tools/Cache in Bridge...
You are flailing around and you are bound to be frustrated...I understand that, but the step you've outline so far are totally wrong. Go to the link I mentioned, download ACR 5.7 and follow the instructions for installing.
thanks so much but I'm not certain what to do after I open the download file and double click camera profiles.exe and follow the on screen instructions when I double click I get asked where I want to extract the compressed files I don't know what to do...?
I just tried it again and when I go to help-about plug ins I still have the 5.0 nothing changed but I copied the 5.7 plug in into the file formats folder:(
Never mind. I just realized you're on Windows.

In case you're accessing the forums through email, please note that I edited my last post. My original reply applied only to Mac users of CS4.
I tried it again and again and the manual installation doesn't seem to work for me:( does anybody have an idea what I do wrong?....I always move the existing camera raw plug-in 5.0 in a folder on my desktop and copy the camera raw plug-in 5.7 into the files format folder launch cs4 and go to help-plug-ins and see only the camera raw plug-in 5.0:(

Which windows system,such as windows 7 64bit?
Also if you have a 64bit os then you probably have two versions
of cs4, a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version.
Did you try from within photoshop cs4 Help>Updates (internet on)?
In Bridge: Help>Updates (internet on)?
thanks for the reply I have windows VISTA and yes
installed is a 64bit version and the normal version-I cannot choice
the updates option because I'm not registered yet.
maybe it has to do with the 64bit version because I always uploaded it to the normal 32 bit version?
and when I open the 64bit version I see there is no camera raw
plug in at all.
On vista 64 when you run the profile installer, right click on the installer
and choose Run As Administrator.
The camera raw plugin that is in the download, in the folder marked win64 goes in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS4\File Formats
(this for the 64bit version photoshop cs4)
The other camera raw plugin in the download goes in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS4\File Formats
(this is for the 32bit version of cs4)
If after doing that, you still see 5.0 listed, look in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins folder and remove
any camera raw plugins you find there.
If you get this message before trying any
of the above, here is the standalone camera raw installer 5.7
for cs4 that should do everythoing for you, just run the installer
as an administrator.
thanks so much for your help-it's really appreciated I have the camera raw plug-in 5.7 now on my 64bit version BUT when I open bridge to get photos from the camera I still cannot see the images the thumbnails appear without image (just blue with a little flower picture or something like this) and when I either click get photos or try and close it it doesn't respond and seems to freeze:(
I did already the purge cache-I don't know but the network symbol (bridge desktop) appears with a little lock symbol
now it works!!!:) seems like I had an issue with the last memory card I just thought I'd try a different memory card and it worked right away-weird...thanks again!!
very helpful people its really appreciated!!
