    How to create AVCHD DVD+R

    Howard Hoffman Community Member

Premiere is used to create the m4v (1920x1080i) and ac3 file of the right size for DVD DL.

Encore is used to create the Blu-rady project with menu

However, in Encore's build tab, if the format is chosen as Blu-ray, it can only write the BD-R disc, not DVD+R DL.

I chose Blu-ray Folder and made a build.  The resulting folder has BDMV and CERTIFICATE.

Under BDMV\STREAM, there are 3 streams, 1 appears to be the menu and 1  the entire timeline and 1 for 6KB file which I don't know what it's.

Playing back this folder using MPC-HC or WMP will result in a glimpse of the menu and then  the entire timeline.  The timeline has 15 chapters in Encore but I can't  move forward or backward.

Is there anything wrong with the chapter stuff?

How can I burn it to a DVD+DL?

      Thanks!

I do not think you can burn a BluRay project to DVD... not and have it play, since the data rate for BluRay is much higher and a DVD player can't play the data rate of a BluRay project

As far as I know, you must author to DVD to be able to write and play a DVD

            your right,

you can put blu ray on a standard dvd but it

will only play on a blu ray player.

I put short blu ray projects on regular

dvds by making a blu ray image and then put the image on a dvd.

It has to be less than 4 GB to fit. Bigger then 4gb it's better to buy a blu ray dvd

to put the project on, blu rays now are cheaper then dual layer dvds.

Make it a DVD project, not a Blu-ray project.

I've tried to use TMT to play the folder as the source and it plays fine (chapter and menu all work fine).

Can I just burn this folder to DVD?  Do I need a specific format (someone mentioned UDF)?

                Thanks!

You need to Google to find out the specifications for what will play in a DVD player attached to a TV

I **think** the maximum combined (video + audio) data rate is "something" like 9 MBS

You may be able to use a 3rd party app to burn your BluRay folder to a DVD... but it will NOT play in a set top DVD player due to the data rate, you would need to put that disc in a BluRay player, which is able to play back a higher data rate

If you want a DVD that will work in a set top DVD player... you simply must author to DVD, not BluRay

                    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

No, you have to make an BD Image (iso) not folder and use Nero or ImageBurn to burn it to DVD.

I also use DVD for small BD project.

Just tried to burn the folder with ImgBurn, UDF 2.50.  It plays fine.
