John T Smith Dec 20, 2010 7:18 AM (in response to Howard Hoffman)I do not think you can burn a BluRay project to DVD... not and have it play, since the data rate for BluRay is much higher and a DVD player can't play the data rate of a BluRay project
As far as I know, you must author to DVD to be able to write and play a DVD

bruce-tmvp Dec 20, 2010 8:06 AM (in response to John T Smith)your right,
you can put blu ray on a standard dvd but it
will only play on a blu ray player.
I put short blu ray projects on regular
dvds by making a blu ray image and then put the image on a dvd.
It has to be less than 4 GB to fit. Bigger then 4gb it's better to buy a blu ray dvd
to put the project on, blu rays now are cheaper then dual layer dvds.

JSS1138 Dec 20, 2010 8:20 AM (in response to Howard Hoffman)How can I burn it to a DVD+DL?
Make it a DVD project, not a Blu-ray project.

4. Re: How to create AVCHD DVD+R
Howard Hoffman Dec 20, 2010 10:52 AM (in response to bruce-tmvp)I've tried to use TMT to play the folder as the source and it plays fine (chapter and menu all work fine).
Can I just burn this folder to DVD? Do I need a specific format (someone mentioned UDF)?
Thanks!

5. Re: How to create AVCHD DVD+R
John T Smith Dec 20, 2010 12:48 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)You need to Google to find out the specifications for what will play in a DVD player attached to a TV
I **think** the maximum combined (video + audio) data rate is "something" like 9 MBS
You may be able to use a 3rd party app to burn your BluRay folder to a DVD... but it will NOT play in a set top DVD player due to the data rate, you would need to put that disc in a BluRay player, which is able to play back a higher data rate
If you want a DVD that will work in a set top DVD player... you simply must author to DVD, not BluRay

No, you have to make an BD Image (iso) not folder and use Nero or ImageBurn to burn it to DVD.
I also use DVD for small BD project.
