2. Re: PS CS5 upgrade to PS CS5 extended problems
jmg2k7 Dec 28, 2010 7:00 AM (in response to le masurier)I am having the same issue.
In about PS Splash it only says CS5. Does not show the "extended" like it does on other machines.
There is no 3D tab/section.
I was able to sucessfully upgrade 2 other machines.
But the third is giving me a hard time.
Here is what I have tried...
Remove all CS5 apps (not prefs).
Installed on a new Admin account.
Machine is a Mac Pro Xeon 8 gb ram OS X 10.6.4
Any suggestions are appreciated

c.pfaffenbichler Dec 28, 2010 7:00 AM (in response to jmg2k7)Maybe the Clean Script can help remove the previous installation more thoroughly.

4. Re: PS CS5 upgrade to PS CS5 extended problems
Willi Adelberger Dec 28, 2010 9:45 AM (in response to le masurier)As far as I know is the installer the same. The difference is the serial number. So it would be important to deactivate PS with deleting the serial, uninstall PS relaunch the computer and install PS Extended. No cleanup script is needed.

5. Re: PS CS5 upgrade to PS CS5 extended problems
le masurier Dec 28, 2010 12:13 PM (in response to Willi Adelberger)I thought I was buying an upgrade so don't I need the current PS installed to enable the upgrade to work?
The new installer is currently reinstalling the PS standard version. Oddly I have previously
updated PS from 12.0.0 to 12.0.2 and after the new install I am back to 12.0.0. So something is definitely being installed,
just not what I paid over $500 for.
My worry is that if I uninstall the non extended version and the new installer won't let me install without an already installed valid version
then I'll be stuck without any version, as my original discs are at the studio and I'm on holiday.
Cheers,
Philip

6. Re: PS CS5 upgrade to PS CS5 extended problems
Willi Adelberger Dec 28, 2010 12:46 PM (in response to le masurier)1. Deactivate PS Standard
2. Uninstall it. Because you had a serial which die not get the extended plugins from the instaler. Delete the serial.
3. Install the Extende version. THe new serial should now get all plugins. If not a previous version is installed as it is now, you a required to insert the other serial during the installing process.
But if you keep the old installation with its serial there are some problems possible:
1. The installer recognizes the old serial which will not install the extended plug ins.
2. THe new installer has a different build and recognize an older (or newer) module which can cause a conflict.

7. Re: PS CS5 upgrade to PS CS5 extended problems
Willi Adelberger Dec 28, 2010 12:49 PM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)The cleaner wipes away any installation of CS5. It is not a good idea to run it before deactivatiion and unistallation of the installed programmes.

10. Re: PS CS5 upgrade to PS CS5 extended problems
jmg2k7 Dec 28, 2010 4:00 PM (in response to Willi Adelberger)Thank you!
This worked beautifully for me!
I did not run the "cleaner" script or removed pref's.
I noticed when de-activating the apps, it only listed the 3 apps that came with CS5 Standard, and not the rest of the CS5 Premium apps.
Again thank you very much, my designer will be thrilled!
