Does anyone ever get a response to a posting?

    RickEEE Community Member

I posted this string a while back, but have gotten no response, other than my own to provide additional information. Would really like some help here. Thanks.

If it makes you feel any better, no help on my post either... I would look elsewhere.

In some of the busier forums, you're likely to get help rather quickly. This one is pretty slow so there's only one or two people that come in to

help. They're very good at it but just don't come in often.

Please suggest other, better Contribute forums.  Thanks.

I've never ran across one that's better than here. There is a severe lack of free support forums (or any free support for that matter) for Contribute.

ZOMG the Contribute help line told me to post here if I didn't want to pay them $40 to answer my question (After I waited on hold for an hour) but they don't even read or respond to these posts. this sofware and the support are such a joke

They sent you here to possibly get free advice from fellow users but not to get support from them directly. This is simply a user to user forum (with some exceptions in forums that Adobe support shows up in occassionally).

For the most part, the forums here are very helpful and filled with highly experienced users. This product just doesn't seem that popular so that's why no one is ever in here.

Just a few notes/thoughts on Adobe recently:

                      - Their products are truly great... Nothing better out there. Yet, they are in no way perfect.

                      - They are not openly advertising Contribute, whether it is on their Web site or elsewhere. This does not bode well for the sustainability of the product. Don't be surprised if it ends up being absorbed into another product. InContext editing has been absorbed into BusinessCatalyst, so the same may be done here (maybe into Dreamweaver).

                      - There product support is incredibly weak... I have problems with EVERY single one of their products. Some are quite crippling and there have been no answers to be found. Granted, I "only" have CS4, but I would still hope and expect better support as a paying customer.

                      My two cents...

I totally agree. I find few perfect applications with any software company.

I see Contribute advertised as part of the product suites quite a bit. It has a very specific use.

I won't speak for the actual tech suport since it's probably been at least 10 years since I've had to use them but for the products I use (all of the CS Productions applications plus a couple more), I find these forums very helpful with the exception of Contribute.

I would be surprised actually. Contribute isn't intended as a full blown web editor. It's a Content Management System which yes, is a web page editor but a simplistic one intended for people that don't know a lot about web.

Dreamweaver IS a full blown web editor and we be way too much of a learning curve for the type of people that Contribute was meant for.

Now whether they keep developing Contribute or just let go with the wind is another story...

they actually told me that Adobe support reads the forums and responds to people, even when I said I needed help quickly they assured me that this was a good option.

It's just frustrating how I was treated by the Adobe call cneter. I had a simple tech question which was actually not a contribute question but an ISP / FTP question (as I found out after spending all day on hold) but before listening to my full problem they wanted $40 because my software was out of date despite the fact that our organization has the current software on our account (I just happened to be using the older version on my worstation), then told me to call my web hosting company, then again wanted $40 before admitting that contribute was not capable of resolving this issue and actually helping me by telling me i needed to use different software.

I came away frustrated, feeling like they tried to take money from me before even understanding what I needed and feeling that the limitations of Contribute and Adobe are enough to out weigh any perks

I'm sure the forums are helpful, but not reliable and not monitored daily by Adobe support as promised by the call center.

Yeah I'm not sure why they would say that. It quite simply is not true. At least not in any of these forums that I frequent. I see them pop in "on occasion" in some but it's definitely not required as part of their job and is always infrequent.

Hopefully I was able to answer your question or at least help somewhat in the other thread you started. Yes, it is an ISP issue rather than an Adobe one.

                            Good luck.
