I am quite comfortable with Actionscripting and using flash. I have done some good animations and some complicated program modules as a freelancer.
Now I want to take my flash knowledge to the next level. I want to be able to program something very 3D-ish.
Cooliris grabbed my attention the other day and I want to replicate it in flash (purely for my own learning purpose)
few other 3D stuff that captured my attention:
Well, you get the idea. I am comfortable with XML and external image loading and all that stuff, but what I totally lack is the understanding of how to make the movie clips seem like 3D - like displaying them on a wall similar to tiltviewer or cooliris.
I really want to learn and I searched this forum (oh, btw, search doesn't work here, may be you are already working on it, but it doesn't display threads - just the topics) and google for a good book on 3d effects on flash there seemed to be so many varied results I dont really know where to start.
Can anyone suggest me a good book or a place that describes this 3D animation in great detail?
Thank you very much.
looking forward for some good suggestions,
it look like cooliris and tiltviewer use the 3D rotation/position stuff - found this link to explain the basics: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/as3/intro_3d_as3_pg1.htm
peicemaker looks like it uses the DrawTriangles() method to do the 3D effect - i did a (three-part) post on my blog on that subject so i guess i should recommend that: http://blog.leeburrows.com/2010/10/drawtriangles1/
