1. With the pen tool, draw an isosceles triangle pointed downward. We're going to change this to a valentine.
2. Use the pen tool to convert the top two anchor points to curves, and drag the control points so we have a emerald/cone type shape.
3. Add an anchor point to the top middle of the shape, and drag it down to form a valentine shape. And now you see the problem.
How do you convert a smooth-curve type anchor point to a cusp type anchor point, in which the control handles can be moved independently of each other?
Here's a better example:
Use the star autoshape and set properties to:
Radius 2: 20
Roundness 2: 50
Now draw a rectangle, ungroup it, and use the pen tool to transform the shape into what the star looks like.
