I'm guessing the answer to my question is no, and the solution lies in the hitTest method. But just to be sure . . . if I create a new movie clip and then drag that movie clip over other movie clips that have MOUSE_OVER listeners is there anyway that those clips will get the mouse over?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this.
if the covering movieclip has its mouseEnabled property set to false, the covered movieclips will receive mouse events.
As always THANK YOU. I didn;t think to use mouseEabled because I'm dragging the clip above and assumed that the drag functionality wouldn't work but setting it to false after startDrag is called allows it to be dragged and for the clips below to get the mouse overs. So glad I din't have to go down the hitTest road. Thanks again.
