Can you help us a bit? Much more info is needed, and this ARTICLE will give you tips on what would be important, plus how to find some of that info.
Good luck, and please let us know much more to help you.
What kind of information do you need?
If you look through that linked article, you will see that knowing the following would be very useful:
- Source footage with full specs. (that article also tells you how to gather this info, if you do not know it)
- Project Preset in detail
- System with full specs.
*groan* I'm not that good with the computer. Have other people had problems with the program not running correctly?
Some have, but most have not. Where there have been problems, they normally sort out this way:
- System - not adequate, or setup improperly for video editing
- Source footage - not being of an editable type/CODEC
- Project Preset - not matching the source footage, or where one has mixed source footage
- OE - user trying to do something wrong, or that the program cannot do
That is why the info is so very important, so that we can rule out possible issues.
Well, I will need my brother to help me find all that info, so if someone could help me without the info that would be great too. I just need the program to work!
I would get your brother to help with that info - you'll owe him, so watch out!!!
Without that info, it's almost like saying "my car won't start. What's wrong?"
And then when people begin to ask, "is there gas in the tank? Is the battery charged? Do you have the right key for that car?" and you say, "I don't know," it leaves them in a lurch.
Don't tell your brother that he's helping you learn about both computers and video-editing, or he'll demand higher payment. Just tell him that some guy on the PrE forum asked for some info to help you. Act like it's homework, or something, or he'll get smug, and you will not be able to live with him, if he knows how much he helped. Brothers are like that.
Good luck, and just go down the list. If you run into some spots, where you can't get the info easily, someone here will be glad to help. Might take a few posts, but we'll get this done, and your PrE working, as well as it can. Be patient, and we'll help.

I just got a new computer and it's got a dual-core AMD processo
A new computer is already out-of-date before it hits the retail chain as master versions of the disk(s) are created long before that. So work through these basics to bring your machine up-to-date:
- Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.9 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
- Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
- Run Disk Cleanup.
- Run Defragmenter.
- Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.

Yes, download a trial of Version 9. If it works, buy it. If not, quit trying.
Thanks for the tip, but my brother isn't like that at all! He's probably the best older brother in the world!
Hey, now if my younger brother just felt the same way...
Good luck, and let us know what the two of you find out. Should he have any questions about what has been asked for, do not hesitate to ask us here. Someone will give any necessary details.
