Two quick things to try:
- Check your Windows Audio setup. I occassionally find that if I have 5:1 sound set PRE playback is faulty. Correct this by setting 2:1 in the audio control panel for your sound card.
- What are your audio hardware settings?
If there is nothing helpful there then please work though Got a Problem? How to Get Started and post back with the requested info.
Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children
As you have re-installed the programs, it is likely that a setting is not correct. Neale has given you the first place that I would look, but this ARTICLE will give you a few more places to check.
I want to thank you for your reply to my question. however at this time I am still at a loss as to what to do. I tried everything listed that I knew how to do (I am really quite dumb abt computers) I did do the download/save things you listed in the article, could that help? I can't figure how to get back on the discussion.
THANKS FOR ANY FURTHER HELP
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
but I am still w/o any audio in PE
I have downloaded/saved the information bill suggested but not sure what that means. thanks for trying to help me but I am just so illiterate about computers esp windows 7.
I am not clear. Was there a newer audio driver from Realtek, or Creative? If so, one needs to download that, and then install it. Do check for instructions on the mfgr's. Web site. These are usually just an executable file, and executing it, is all that is required. In some cases, however, one must do a few things, related to the existing driver (this is much more common with video drivers, than audio drivers, which are most often simple straight installs - but check, just to be sure).
let me explain what we have done.
we just bought a new computer with W7 installed. My husband installed his PE 7 & 1 into it and is working on editing our grandsons wedding which he started before on the W-xp computer.
since you are so helpful I am attaching the MSINFO you suggested to download. also if I can the DXDIAG info.
not sure which corrected the problem but we now have sound in PE 7.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH and Neal also. much appreciated.
Great news! Wish that we knew exactly what fixed the situation, so that we could be sure to suggest that to others, but in the end, that you Audio is working is wonderful, and we'll take that.
Thank you for reporting your success, and good luck,
