1. Re: prohibitory sign prevents applying description
Omke Oudeman Jan 5, 2011 3:42 PM (in response to margieannejulie)You probably work on files that are locked, is there a small icon with a lock on top of the thumbnail?
Select one problem file and with right mouse click menu see if you have the option to unlock the file.
If so choose unlock and your problem should be solved.
If not you might check the drive the files are on and check if you have read and write permission for it.

Yes, on your desktop select the HD you are sure the files are on and with
the icon selected check get info. At the bottom of this window should show
read and write permissions for system and admin. To change it you must have
admin priviliges for the system you are working on.

margieannejulie Jan 6, 2011 10:06 AM (in response to Omke Oudeman)I haven't seen the HD in a long time, I wrote it in the search field and the path gave me just a slash forward bar. Do you have an idea where it might be?
I am very anxious to find what I have to change, if that is the problem, then it's no problem, because I am the only owner and only administrator of this computer!
Thank you very much for all the help so far!

Try it in Finder not in Bridge. It is an OS thing to check owner
permissions.
But I don't understand the quote have not seen the HD in a long time? Do you
mean it does not show in the favorites panel or the folder panel?
That could be easily solved by checking the computer option in the Bridge
preferences General section, you see this at the bottom in Favorites.
Personally I prefer the folder panel to navigate through the disks on my
system and the HD should certainly show in this location if the disk is
active.
If I use the path left in the Bridge Path bar (don't have a use for the
search field in here but it seems a lot of users working on servers have
great benefit of it) the first of the path shows "computer" if i select this
my content window instantly shows me all the disk attached to my system.

margieannejulie Jan 8, 2011 7:05 AM (in response to Omke Oudeman)I found the HD with the help of the apple forum, it was in the main tab of
Finder, I just checked show
HD on desktop, and there it was. Everything looks ok with my permission to read
and write, like I said, I am the owner and sole administrator of my computer.
In the meantime, I had a total crash of the OS in my mac book pro, i am now
borrowing a pc.
It may take a few days to fix. I am not too worried about my data because i had
the apple and the wheel
spinning, then a blue screen, period.
The time I lost my data I had an interrogation point on the screen, I havent
seen the technician yet because they are closed until monday because of the
holidays. Hey, This is Italy, give them a chance!
