c.pfaffenbichler Jan 6, 2011 12:59 AM (in response to margieannejulie)Time to ditch, right?
Utilities, then.
What exactly do you mean by that?
Have you trashed prefs yet?
And how about 3rd party plug-ins?

2. Re: CS5 doesn't respond
margieannejulie Jan 6, 2011 5:29 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)I think I mentioned that I can't go anywhere - and that includes preferences and 3rd party plug-ins- because my cursor is now a spinning wheel. that means
that if I point at a menu the wheel is spinning and I can't click.
My only 3rd party is digimarc which never gave me any problem. that's why I am wondering if I should go to utilities and ditch PS. in this case, where do i go after utilities?

3. Re: CS5 doesn't respond
c.pfaffenbichler Jan 6, 2011 8:59 AM (in response to margieannejulie)Trashing prefs can be done by starting the application with command-alt-shift pressed and then following the dialog, is that also not possible?

5. Re: CS5 doesn't respond
margieannejulie Jan 6, 2011 9:49 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)That gave me a dialogue Delete PS file setting? I clicked yes, the wheel turned into a cursor from the logo (blue area) to the menu bar where it turned into
a wheel again, thank you anyway, i'll probably have questions about disposing of ps.

c.pfaffenbichler Jan 6, 2011 10:16 AM (in response to margieannejulie)System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)

margieannejulie Jan 8, 2011 7:34 AM (in response to Jeffrey Tranberry)Sorry guys I mixed up my stars,I think that Jeffreys answer was quite clever and that it deserved the correct answer star, by that not meaning to deny any
credit to c. who is always extremely helpful.
Unfortunatly I have even worse troubles now because I lost my OSX. I am not in a panic about my data because I got the apple and the spinning wheel, then
blue screen , period, whereas the time I really lost everything I had an interrogation mark.
Jeffrey, I didnt had a chance to try your tip, and I cant see the technician until monday, they are still closed for the holidays, yes, Christmas, come on give them a chance for a little rest, this is Italy!
Time to switch forum...
