Check you have set-up, tested and defined your site correctly, see - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_testing_server.html.

TCarp Jan 12, 2011 8:57 PM (in response to pziecina)Thanks
That was the primary article I used to set things up. As I mentioned, I tested shortly after I set the local server up and it worked. Now, a few weeks later, it isn't. I haven't moved things around which is why I asked if somehow the local testing server isn't starting somehow.

This should be http://localhost/SITENAME/
In searching for a solution the only thing I was was to check that the local server was started. Could that be it and how do I check it?
Could explain why it seemed to work and then stopped.
If the server isn't running, it won't work. I don't use WampServer, but a quick look at the WampServer website shows the menu that you access from the icon tray at the bottom right of your screen (see http://www.wampserver.com/en/presentation.php). Try clicking Start All Services.

TCarp Jan 13, 2011 9:56 AM (in response to David_Powers)David,
Thank you very much. I'm a bit embarassed for coming to the DW forum for what was a WAMP issue. The local server, once I got the WAMP icon to show, was offline. As you recommended, started all and it worked again.
I'll work with the WAMP folk to figure out why it went offline (since the server was working right after install).
Is there any reason you know about to have the server running or not by default? I don't work on web stuff all that often. Is it overkill to leave the server unstarted until needed?

Nancy O. Jan 13, 2011 10:24 AM (in response to TCarp)I see no point in keeping your local testing server on/open when you're not using it. Same goes for other software on your PC.

TCarp Jan 13, 2011 11:33 AM (in response to Nancy O.)Nancy, I was hoping you would comment here.
Unless someone uses WAMP, I'll go to them if I need to change the start up settings.
