I have installed Reader9 on my brand new installation of Fedora 14. The install went fine. It won't start from the desktop launcher icon. When I go to the /opt/Adobe/Reader9/bin directory and execute from the command line using "./acroread", I get the following message:
acroread: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.0.9.8: cannot enable executable stack as shared object requires: permission denied
I run this as root, it makes no difference. I have put 777 permissions on the file itself, no difference. I have installed Reader9 on my Fedora 8 system. . . runs fine. Ditto on my Windows 7 laptop. What am I missing here?
Try the forum 'Adobe Reader for Unix'.
This is an issue caused by selinux. I found the solution from http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/install-adobe-acrobat-pdf-reader-on-fedora-cent os-red-hat-rhel/
Run the following command as root:
chcon -t execmem_exec_t '/opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread'
