c.pfaffenbichler Jan 13, 2011 5:49 AM (in response to Carl Weese)What's going on??
The file could be corrupted, the disc could be faulty, the suffix could just be a wrong one etc.
Did you save across a network or locally?
In the first case the probability of data-loss would be higher.

2. Re: CS5 won't open its own panorama
Carl Weese Jan 13, 2011 5:55 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)I'm saving to a hard drive connected directly to an iMac by USB. I've tried it twice and gotten the same result, using different filenames. I'll try saving to the internal drive and see if it makes a difference. This is with a high resolution .psd file. A low rez .jpg from a downsized copy of the file reopens fine.---Carl

Which format-suffixes did you try?

4. Re: CS5 won't open its own panorama
Carl Weese Jan 13, 2011 6:10 AM (in response to c.pfaffenbichler)I only changed the prefix to ID the successive attempts. Each saved as ".psd". I'm re-generating the pano now to try saving as a TIFF to see if that makes a difference.

5. Re: CS5 won't open its own panorama
Carl Weese Jan 13, 2011 6:16 AM (in response to Carl Weese)So, saved as tiff, the file opens, though much slower than a .psd would. That gives me a workaround, but I'd like to figure out why they aren't saving properly as native Photoshop files.

6. Re: CS5 won't open its own panorama
Carl Weese Jan 13, 2011 7:47 AM (in response to Carl Weese)OK, either the problem has mysteriously gone away, or PS didn't like the filenames I was using. I used a different prefix configuration and now can open a file saved as .psd. Would have been nice if the dialog had said it was a bad filename rather than talking about wrong PS versions.
