1. Re: Mystery: Jpg explodes in size when placed. Why?
Jacob Bugge Jan 13, 2011 8:53 AM (in response to andyvisuals)Andy,
Your JPEG has a PPI far greater than 72 (looks like something in the order of 800 - 1000 PPI); Illy opens at 72 PPI. You may just scale it down.
As far as I remember, the latest version(s) will let you keep the PPI when placing it.

Steve Fairbairn Jan 13, 2011 9:46 AM (in response to andyvisuals)Reckon you must have embedded the picture into Illie.
Don't, unless you really need to.
By embedding a picture you are in effect removing the compression that the JPG format gave you.
Same thing goes for jpg.EPS files.

andyvisuals Jan 13, 2011 1:04 PM (in response to Mike Gondek2)Thanks guys, especially to you Mike. That did the trick. The resolution was set at 1.
How does a pic with stated size of 1000x800 come to be like that? Just wondering.
Looks like I have a lot more to learn about PPI, resolutions, etc.
