    Full Screen Issues

    ct338

I've been trying to edit and save a screencast created with Windows Expression Encoder.  When the file is encoded through Expression Encoder, it is a wmv and will play in full screen.  However, when I edit it and try to save it (in any format, mpeg, wmv) it won't open to full screen.  Even when I preview it in Premier Elements in full screen, it's only a fraction of the screen.   It's like there's a large black border around it and it's blurry.  I export it to 1024x768 but it still won't expand to fill the entire screen.  What am I doing wrong??  Does something change when it's imported into Premier Elements?

          Welcome to the forum.

What are the full specs. of the WMV from Expressions?

What is the Project Preset that you choose at New Project?

          Those two should match 100%

What are the settings that you chose when you went to Export/Share?

All of those things need to be taken into account.

Good luck, and let us know a bit more,

            Hi Bill,

I think the problem must be in the project settings when I open a new project because I can play full screen after the Expression video is encoded to WMV.  What should the new project setting be?  I'm only looking to post this video online and be able to watch it on a computer using Windows Media Player not Flash.
            Thanks for your help!

The Project Preset chosen should match the source footage 100%. This is regardless of the intended output. That can then be chosen/adjusted with Export/Share.

PrE 9 has added a little feature, where the program will help you get the best Preset for the source footage. I'd give you the steps for that, but fear that I'd tell you how to do it in PrPro CS5, and be wrong for PrE 9. Others will be able to give you the exact steps, if you have PrE 9. Otherwise, it's basically get the full specs. of the source files, write them down, and then find a Preset that matches those specs. One can get the specs. in several ways:

Properties in either Windows Media Player, or from Apple's QuickTime Pro (Ctrl+J there)

              G-Spot

              MediaInfo

              Good luck, and happy editing,

Thanks, Bill.  This is starting to make more sense but after looking at my source file and the new project presets, I still can't figure out which project preset is the best fit.  I've encoded the source file two different ways.  They're both below.  If you have any clues as to what project preset would work, I would really appreciate it.  Thank you for all of your help!
