Playing DSLR footage from my T2i is great in CS5 (even scrubbing the timeline), however, when I use the shortcuts JKL to move forwards and backwards there is a delay in playing clips backwards on the timeline or in the source window. Playing 1080p footage forward only uses about 25% of my CPU, but playing the same clip backwards uses around 90% of the CPU and plays jerky. If I play a clip forwards (L), stop (K), then backwards (J), there is a delay in playing the clip backwards. Is this normal? It doesn't happen with less compressed formats. I assume that it is due to the high compression in the codec. Does anyone else notice this behavior?

Yep. Well, more accurately, it's due to the interframe compression inherent to H.264, and the nature of long GOP encoding. So, yes... it's normal. Frustrating, perhaps, but normal.
Thank you Colin. I guess I take comfort in knowing it's not my computer but just the way it is...Thanks.
