i scoured the internet for a valid answer but couldn't find one
so i thought forum members could supply a correct answer:
most MP4 output files loaded into GSpot will state for audio and video:
CODEC STATUS UNDETERMINED
however, the files play with sound
when i load a LAGARITH file, GSpot correctly states Lagarith
when i load a MPEG2 file, GSpot correctly states MPEG2
most entries on the web state the same thing: why do mp4 files
result in CODEC STATUS UNDETERMINED...
any advice/info will help
Because GSpot is older than dirt and frankly, of minimal helpfulness when it comes to many interframe codecs. I know a lot of people swear by it--and it's not without application--but I find MediaInfo to be far more useful, particularly when dealing with things like H.264 and MP4.
MediaInfo also integrates nicely with the OS, so that you can right-click a clip to analyze, or even view stats in a tooltip or in the status bar at the bottom of an Explorer window.
thanks for the info and the lead to Mediainfo
just installed it and love the right click option to see the info
have a good day
