I've been lurking and reading the great advice given by those on this forum. I'm building a system for CS5 and am going with the 4 drive configuration suggested by members of this forum. I have the following:
3 x SAMSUNG HD103SJ 1TB 7200 rpm
1 x Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 rpm
From what I read, the WD benchmarks slower. Where should I slot this into my configuration? Perhaps it makes sense to use it as the OS drive, but I'd hate for other non-CS5 apps to miss out on performance of a better drive.
It would be a waste of space to use anything other than the 640 G disk for OS & programs. Even 640 is very large for only 50 G of space in use.
I'd agree with Harm.
If you have the scratch, pick up a Samsung F4 320GB for the System drive, and use the WD for backups.
