In the download page for Adobe Reader (http://get.adobe.com/reader) where you are asked to choose your OS, select Mac OS PowerPC 10.4.11 - 10.5.5
This will give you option to download Adobe Reader 9.4 which will work on your powerbook G4
Probably you would have selected Intel 10.4.11 - 10.5.5 which gives you Reader X for download and installer refuses to install. Reader X does not work on PowerPC based systems. It works on Intel based Macs
I am receiving the exact same error message but I have an Intel Core 2 Duo.
Why won't it work? What do I need to do?
Let me know your OS. Reader X does not work on OS 10.4.11 even if it is Intel Processor.
Requirements for Reader X are:
1) OS 10.5.x or OS 10.6.x (Will not work on OS 10.4 series)
2) Intel Processors (will not work on powerPC based architecture)
Does your system qualify these two requirements? If not I suggest you download Reader 9.4.1 to work with pdf files.
I'm sorry, but I have the same problem,
and it's useless to say the requirement is to have Mac OSX 10.5 when on the download site of Reader X there's a drop down menu with "Mac OS Intel10.4.11-10.5.5" written on it.
I selected it, downloaded the .dmg image, to find later that I cannot install the reader!
If this is an error on the website, please correct it.
Thanks Karan - this is helpful. Installed and working.
