    Problem with Reader X and Browsers using ShowModalDialog and Frames/IFrames

    askdjh92834

      There seems to be a problem with Reader X being opened in a browser frame/iframe when called by ShowModalDialog or ShowModelessDialog. The problem is that the first time you make the call, the framed/iframed reader appears and if you click on the save button the save dialogue appears OK, however if you close the window and make the call a second time, the framed/iframed reader appears but if you click on the save button then the save dialogue does not appear. This inability of the save button to open the save dialogue then continues until you either kill the Adobe reader process and reopen the window or else click the print icon to display the print dialogue then click the cancel button.

      This has been tested on several machines with XPSP3 and VistaSP2. It has been tested on IE7, IE8 and Firefox. The behaviour has been reproducable in 100% of cases (apart from Firefox not supporting ShowModelessDialog). Can someone from Adobe confirm this to be a bug and enter in your systems for a fix?

      Thanks.

      This is the code to reproduce the problem.

      main.html:-

      <html>
      <body>
      <input type="button" value="FrameModal" onclick="window.showModalDialog('frame.htm')")>
      <input type="button" value="IFrameModal" onclick="window.showModalDialog('iframe.htm')">
      <input type="button" value="FrameModeless" onclick="window.showModelessDialog('frame.htm')")>
      <input type="button" value="IFrameModeless" onclick="window.showModelessDialog('iframe.htm')">
      </body>
      </html>

      frame.html:-

      <html>
      <frameset>
      <frame src="1.pdf">
      </frameset>
      </html>

      iframe.html:-

      <html>
      <body>
      <iframe style="height:100%;width:100%" src="1.pdf" >
      </body>
      </html>
