Look at what is different between the Flash version and the Dreamweaver version. Are all of the files needed in the same folders? Is there a difference in the Object and Embed tags from one file to the other?
They are the same file
When I double click on the swf file in Dreamweaver's side panel, it opens in a separate window and plays perfectly.
However, When I insert that same file into the page and hit the play button, or preview it in Explorer/firefox, I get the slideshow without the images
Oh and I did get this warning:
What does that mean?
That alert panel means that IE doesn't like that way that the Object tag is written, probably the one written by Dreamweaver. Is the html that DW writes in the same folder as the html that was written by Flash?
What happens if you drag the .swf file onto an IE window? Does it play correctly?
That Worked! Thanks a bunch!!!! After putting the HTML file in the same folder as the flash, it worked perfectly!
ps yes it did work when I dragged it into IE
It works perfectly in the preview but when I uploaded it to my webserver, it has the same problem.
It's like it no longer links to the images.
Thank you for your help and time
If the files work locally but not on the server, then there is something different between the two sets of files. Are any of the needed files missing from the server? Is there a difference in the way that the files are laid out on the server from your local drive? Were all of the html files uploaded as text and the Flash file(s) uploaded as data?
I copied everything straight to my webserver using filezilla. All of the files are there but, some are different sizes. I have tried repeatedly uploading the files that aren't the same size on my harddrive and on the webserver but, the sizes don't change (I have it set to override the files and it takes a couple seconds to upload so I think it must be uploading but it seems to loose some bites on the way. It still won't
You will see some small differences in the file size of individual files from your drive to the server's drive. This is fine. You don't need to upload the .fla file to the server. That's just for you to use. What happens if you call for just the .swf from the server, as in http://www.yoursite.com/photography/slideshow.swf ? Does it play correctly?
do you have Adobe Media Encoder CS5? you can use that to convert videos to flv file which is suitable for flash
Yes I do have Adobe Media encoder CS5
I tried to add it but, it says that it is the wrong type of file
I've never used it the media encoder before.
From the illustration it looks like the .swf is uploaded correctly and is playing. The problem is that the data, your .jpg files, are not loading correctly. If you write in the direct address of any of those .jpg files in your browser, do they show up? If they do, then they were also uploaded correctly. If this is the case then the problem is with the way that you are calling for those .jpgs in your movie. Can you show us the code that you are using to load and show the .jpgs?
