Are you using embedded fonts? What version of the Flex SDK are you using?
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Yes we're using embedded fonts and the version of the SDK is 3.4. ( couldn't find a more exact version number than that I'm afraid )
It seems to be something similar to this thread.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I think it's solved now. I stumbled across this solution here.
In it they suggest actively registering the font within the Application at start up.
I did just that.
private var frutiger45:Class;
and then in the ApplicationFacade at startup I included the line..
and the AdvancedDataGrid's are now rendering correctly?
Would you have any idea/explanation as to why this was happening? Was it simply that because I was only defining the fonts in a .css file and not in an actionscript class explicitly it meant the font was wasn't being included in the generated swf?
Here a link that explains the details of Flex and embedded fonts: http://blogs.adobe.com/aharui/2010/03/flex_and_embedded_fonts.html.
The controls in the Flex Framework were modified to use embedded fonts when RSLs are used. As you found, there is a bug in Flex 3.4 with AdvancedDataGrid. I'm not sure if the bug has been fixed or not. Would you please write up a bug in JIRA. Thanks.
Sure I'll open a JIRA. Not sure what the URL is for it though, can you point me in the right direction?
